Business Admin Overview

Selected users from a company can be given administrator permissions which enable them to make changes to the application.

Below are some of the tasks that an administrator can perform within the application.

Reassign tasks(Workflows) assigned to one employee to other employees.

MDO Request administrator option enables company administrators to get in-depth reports on all tasks (workflows) that has been generated in the system.

Users can filter the reports using several parameters eg.

  • Roles
  • Request initiated by
  • Module

Administrator has the option to forward the task to other users in case one user does not/is unable to complete a task within the designated time period.

Create a Module

 Modules represent the business process flow of an organization. It is used for business process management and managing the relationship between multiple processes of any business area.

In addition to the standard masters available in MDO, Company administrators can configure custom masters to cater to any custom business flows.

Create new fields/Modify existing fields in a module

Fields are used in MDO to define and record information. MDO supports several field types (Dropdown, Text, Geolocation,  Company administrators are allowed to Create/Modify  custom fields to accommodate changing business scenarios.

Company administrators are not allowed to modify standard fields.

Add/modify dropdown values to a field. 

Company administrators are allowed to maintain custom dropdown values for all dropdown fields (company based)  in a module. All dropdown values maintained are tenant based and wont be visible to any other tenants in a multi-tenant environment. 

Create a Menu

The left panel on the dashboard is described as menu, displaying modules the user has access to. Menus are assigned to roles and helps in providing defined access to the application.

Company administrators are given the permission to configure menus and assign them to roles.

Create a Role

Role is a prescribed or expected behavior associated with a particular position or status in an organization. MDO works on role based ownership, Information a user has access to is determined by the permissions/authorizations allocated to the user’s assigned role(s).

Company administrators can configure roles, allocate permissions, and assign them to users.

Create new/ Modify Layouts

A layout is the arrangement or grouping of fields to design a form. A layout acts as a user interface form which helps capture business process data in a relevant order.

Company administrators are given permission to create  their own custom forms (layouts) and assign them to roles.

Company administrators are not allowed to make changes to standard layouts.

Assign permissions to a role

MDO works on role based ownership, Information a user has access to is determined by the permissions/authorizations allocated to the user’s assigned role(s).

Company administrators can define what actions a user can perform within the application by assigning permissions to his/her role.

Configure Schema rules

Schema is a collection of business rules which can be run on legacy data to  identify data inconsistencies. During data transformation and migration projects Schemas helps businesses identify inconsistencies ensuring that only correct data is migrated to the target system.

Configure Dependency rules

Dependencies are business rules that can be configured between fields and support several validations like making a field mandatory, read only, filter dropdown values etc. based on values filled in another field.

Company administrators are given permission to configure dependency rules between fields.

Configure Duplicacy check

MDO duplicate check framework allows businesses to define duplicate check rules on a field or based on a combination of fields to prevent duplicate records from being created in the system. Duplicate check framework allows businesses to take appropriate action based on the percentage of matching.

Company administrators can configure duplicate rules on  a field/combination of fields and define what actions to perform in case a duplicate record is found.

Assign Default setting to a role.

Default settings allow businesses to set  default values for fields (based on business logic). Default settings is role based. MDO business settings enable semi automation in filling records and ensure that users need to fill minimal fields speeding up business processes.

Company administrators can configure Default settings for roles.

Configure Number settings for a module.

Number settings are used to generate sequential and consistent identification for each record. MDO allows businesses to configure number setting criteria which helps businesses to configure.

to uniquely identify Number settings helps business to uniquely identify each record.

Configure Permission profiles

MDO permission profiles allows businesses to  assign permission to roles based the values entered in a record.

Company administrators can configure and assign permission profiles to roles.

Create notifications

MDO notification framework allows businesses to configure notification rules based on criteria/events and assign it to users/roles.  MDO Notification framework help business users to easily keep a track of events occurring in the system in Realtime.

Company administrators can configure and assign notification rules to roles/users.

Configure List page

MDO list page contains the list of all the records created under a master. Business can add key fields to be displayed on the list page to get quick insight into their data.

Company administrators configure list page and select the fields  to be displayed in the list page of a role

Create a user

A user is a person who can access the application. Businesses can assign users roles based on their position/responsibilities within the organization which helps in controlling what information he/she has access to.

Company administrators can create users and assign them roles.

Configure Workflows

Workflow is a set of processes through which a work (record) passes from initiation to completion.

MDO configuration of different  types of workflows

  • Determination
  • Parallel
  • Decision

Workflows steps can be assigned to a user/role.

MDO allows company administrators to configure workflows to cater to their business flows.

Configure notification templates

An template is a preformatted and/or prewritten content that can be used to send emails quickly and easily during different events/actions in MDO.

Company administrators are allowed to  define their email templates which can be used to on various    events to send email notifications.

Task List Settings

Task list is the section in application where users can see their pending task and act on them. From this section administrator can make changes to what users can see in the task list.

Company administrators are allowed to modify what information is available to users in their task list.

Create/Modify Load sheets

Load Sheets are used to link multiple modules together in a single Excel Connect template. From this section administrator can manage the configuration of Excel Connect Load Sheets.

Company administrators are allowed to configure load sheets and assign them to roles

Systems Configuration

MDO systems configuration allows business to configure connections with other 3rd party systems. The different types of connections that can be configured are

  • SMTP
  • SAP
  • FTP
  • SFTP
  • SMS
  • IS
  • Database
  • Webservice
  • MDO
  • SF

Company administrators can  define connections between different systems and help communicate with these systems.

Configure settings profile

MDO Setting Profile enables the company super administrator to control the actions that can be performed by other users with admin permissions.

Configure Groups

MDO allows company administrator to create different group of users responsible for each department. These groups can be then assigned to reminder framework to trigger email notification for any specific event or activity.
