Components  Components are materials needed for a work order. Components may be stock material, nonstock material or a non file material.
Corrective Maintenance  The set of tasks that is destined to correct the defects found in the different equipment and that are communicated to the maintenance department by users of the same equipment.
Data Governance  Data governance deals with the management of an organization’s critical business data, to ensure high data quality is maintained throughout the complete life cycle of the data. Efficient data governance practices can help organizations in maintaining high quality data.
Data Migration  Data migration in the context of the data platform is referred to as the process of moving data objects from a legacy ERP system to a new ERP system.
Data Quality  MDO’s data quality workbench provides the functionality to health check data. It checks the data based on the business rules such as incompleteness, accuracy, mandatory, timeliness, transformation and consistency.
Dependency  A Dependency Rule enables a user to create rules for a field or set of fields that are dependent on the values of other fields. This can include populating the value of a target field(s) based on the value of a source field(s).
Description Generator  MDO provides a unique description generator which helps in generating standardized description for data objects.
Duplicacy Check  Duplicacy Check is used to identify duplicate records (approximate or exact matching) by identifying field(s) within a record for which the check must be performed.
Equipment  Equipment refers to uniquely identifiable objects that can be installed, maintained separately (from building or room location), and removed.  Technical information and maintenance history for equipment can be found in IRISPM.  These items are usually expensed to a building when installed.
Event  An event is an action that occurs in MDO. MDO has event capturers to act on these events. These events are used in Audit Trails and to enhance the system to achieve a business process.
Fields  A field is data element within a data object. A field can store information and can be audited. It can accept input from the user or from other systems via integration.
Finished Goods  Finished goods are goods that have completed the manufacturing process but have not yet been sold or distributed to the end user.
Functional Location  Functional Location represents the next level of detail below the Plant. Notifications and work orders include reference to Functional Location. The Functional Location denotes the place where work can be done. It represents the building, floor, or room.
HERS  Manufacturer parts are materials that can be supplied by different manufacturers and/or vendors who use different manufacturer part numbers to identify the materials.
Hierarchy  Hierarchies serve to depict hierarchical relationships between the master data objects of an object type.
Inventory  Inventory refers to goods that are in various stages of being made ready for sale, including:

  • Finished goods (that are available to be sold)
  • Work-in-progress (meaning in the process of being made)
  • Raw materials (to be used to produce more finished goods)
Layout  A layout is the arrangement or grouping of fields in a desired order to design a form. Layouts act as a user interface form which helps capture business process data in a relevant order.
Material  Material can include but is not limited to raw and processed material, components, parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies, fuels, lubricants, coolants, cleaning agents, and small tools and accessories that may be consumed directly or indirectly. In MDO, material master data object is used to maintain and govern material data.
Material Extend  Is the process in which the material is extended to some other plant. As the requirements for a material increase to a different plant or location, making the same material available without creating a new material is called extending a material.
Material Group  A grouping of materials and services according to their characteristics.
Material Requirement Planning (MRP)  A term for procedures in requirements planning that considers and plans every future requirement during the creation of order proposals such as independent requirements, and dependent requirements.
Menu  A menu is a set of options presented to a user to find or record information. Menus are created based on a role’s requirements. When assigned to a role a menu provides a user with defined access to the application.
Module  A module refers to the data object created for a principle business functionality. It is a fundamental unit of MDO. Fields, Business Rules, Layouts, Permissions, Workflows and Templates can all be configured for a module.
Nouns and Characteristics  These features are the means by which objects can be distinguished from each other within a class type and they can be used as search terms.
Passive Data Governance  Periodically checking the health of your data and dealing with inconsistencies in existing data.
Planning Plant  Planning Plant, the organizational nature of the Plant, provides a way to group people and tasks into an organizational unit.
Plant  In Logistics a plant is an organizational unit for dividing an enterprise according to production, procurement, maintenance, and materials planning.
Preventive Maintenance  Its mission is to maintain a level of certain service on equipment, programming the interventions of their vulnerabilities in the most opportune time. It is used to be a systematic character, that is, the equipment is inspected even if it has not given any symptoms of having a problem.
Purchase Order  purchase order is a formal request or instruction from a purchasing organization to a vendor or a plant to supply or provide a certain quantity of goods or services at or by a certain point in time.
Purchasing Organization  An organizational unit in Logistics, subdividing an enterprise according to the requirements of Purchasing. A purchasing organization procures materials and services, negotiates conditions of purchase with vendors, and is responsible for such transactions.
Regex Rule  A Regex Rule is used to check the accuracy of a field’s value through a regular expression. A regular expression is a string consisting of characters, operators, and constants to describe a search pattern or condition.
Robotics Process Automation  Robotics Process Automation or RPA allows organizations to automate tasks relieving manual input. The main goal of the RPA process is to replace repetitive tasks performed by humans with a virtual workforce.
