Enterprise data platform  

Roles and users: 

Role- 

Roles are assigned with access to modules and permissions which help end-users to perform different transactions in MDO. 

User 

All users created in MDO have unique credentials that can be used to identify any task they perform within the application.  

Role Description – Enter the name of the role.  

Assign/Unassign list- In this list you will see all the available menus. By checking this option, you can assign a menu to a role.  

Set as the Default option– By selecting this option, you can set any menu to be the default menu for the role. 

Mass upload creation– Process of creating several users at the same time is performed using mass upload creation through excel 

Role permission  

Administrators can control what actions users can perform and what information a user can access by assigning authorizations/events to a user’s role. 

Data insight  

Metadata 

Metadata are the fields configured within the schema for an object and allow users to run the custom insight model. 

Schema 

It is MDO’s Data Health Analytics framework. 

Business rules 

Standard checks or constraints are used to validate data within different fields based on defined rules. 

Data quality  

Data Governance  

Overall management of the availability, usability, integrity, and security of data used in an enterprise. 

Data Workflow  

Provides customers with the ability to customize the flow of data within an organization to meet their requirements. 

Data Cleansing 

Process of detecting and correcting (or removing) corrupt or inaccurate records from a recordset, table, or database. 

Deduplication 

Data deduplication occurs when a similar piece of data is recorded in the system. 

Completeness: 

The extent to which the data is complete is termed data completeness. 

Metadata Rule  

Used to apply checks to a record based on the inherent properties of the fields involved, such as data type, length, predefined formats, etc. 

Standardization: 

Data standardization checks for the standard of the data stored in the system. 

Module 

A Module in MDO refers to the object created for principal business functionality. 

Menus 

Menus define the information available to users within a module. 

Excel connect: 

Excel Connect provides the enablement of envisioning data in a centralized format. 

Number settings 

Number settings are used to generate sequential and consistent identification for each record for an object. 

SMTP 

SMTP connection is configured in MDO to enable email notifications on different events.   

MDO PIM: 

PIM provides a central product information system that works as a single interface for all enterprise-wide product-based information. 

Product information management 

PIM provides a central product information system that works as a single interface for all enterprise-wide product-based information. 

List View: All the tasks according to the selected criteria will be shown 

API Framework 

When clients have certain requirements that cannot be met with the standard product features, APIs are utilized. 

Integration cockpit 

The Integration Cockpit feature of MDO provides a comprehensive overview of various data transfer scenarios. 

MDO for SAP 

Menu 

A menu is a set of options presented to a user to find or record information. 

Fields 

MDO provides a set of predefined Material Master fields and dropdowns. 

Business rule 

MDO has a comprehensive business rules framework to ensure that all data created through MDO is consistent with the defined business rules within the application. 

Email templates  

MDO provides a standard set of email templates assigned to the standard workflow steps. 

Integration 

There are a few prerequisites that need to be performed at the MDO end to set up a successful integration.  

Reminder templates 

Reminder templates are used to trigger reminder emails from MDO. 

Interface Scenario 

For or inbound/outbound requests and data mapping between SAP and MDO fields (and vice versa) for Material Master. 

Nouns and modifiers 

Nouns and Modifiers are set up in MDO to define the UNSPSC Class attributes of a Spare Part. 

Attribute Name 

The discrete title for descriptive information about a product. 

Attribute Value: Descriptive detail that distinguishes a product within a category. 

Material master: 

MDO comes with a predefined Material master which the businesses can make use of managing their material master data. 

Active data governance 

Active data governance deals with taking a proactive approach to data governance which includes monitoring data in real-time to ensure that the data captured is of high quality. 

MDO Schema framework 

Businesses can make use of the MDO Schema framework to apply data quality rules on already existing data to identify inconsistent data. 

Dependency: This rule establishes a dependency relationship between the source and target fields. 

API: This rule is used to define any complex custom logic to validate/transform target fields using the API framework. 

Duplicacy Check: This rule helps to identify duplicate records based on matching field combinations. 

Metadata Rule: This rule is to check metadata properties like data type, length, predefined formats, etc. 

Missing Rule: This rule helps identify the fields which do not contain any values. 

Regex: This rule helps to check the accuracy of a field value through regular expression (Regex). 

User-Defined Rule: Define readable conditions to validate/transform the field values. 

Lookup Table: This rule helps to validate/transform target values based on mapping fields defined in the Lookup tables. 

Query Rule: This rule helps to validate values based on mapping fields defined in the Query. 

Info records 

Info Record serves as a source of information for Purchasing. 

Long text 

Long Text is a detailed description of a material maintained in MDO. 

BOM 

Recursive BOM is a BOM that has the main header material included as a BOM component. 

Source list 

A Source List can be automatically created for material by selecting the Source List check box in the Contract and Info Record Data section while creating a material 

MRO 

Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials in SAP are supplies consumed in the production process that do not become part of the end product. 

Vendor master data 

Vendor master data contains information about suppliers/vendors that your organization is dealing with.
